Dating apps in Sweden

We rate every app on five things: how serious the users are, what it really costs, how big the pool is where you live, what women report, and how easy it is to disappear. Same scale, every app, updated quarterly.

Sweden has no public statistic that ranks dating apps by number of users, so every "most popular" list is partly guesswork. The closest thing we have is search interest, which shows what people look up, not what they use. By that measure, HappyPancake, Tinder and Mötesplatsen are the most looked-for names, with Hinge and Bumble behind them (Ahrefs, 12-month average, 2026). Two of the top three are Swedish. HappyPancake, founded in 2007, is free, funded by ads and runs in a browser rather than as an app. Mötesplatsen dates back to 2001 and charges you to send messages. Tinder, Hinge and Bumble all have Swedish-language interfaces. Hinge launched in Sweden in November 2022 (TechRadar Sverige, 2022).

Mötesplatsen and HappyPancake skew older. Tinder, Hinge and Bumble skew younger. That split comes from how the apps market themselves and what people write in forums, not from any count of users, because no such count is public. The numbers that do exist describe online dating as a whole. SOM-institutet at Gothenburg University surveyed people in fall 2024 and found that 12% had met their current or latest partner through a dating app or site. The share was 17% among 16–29-year-olds and 20% among 30–49-year-olds. Friends were still the most common route, at 24% (SOM-institutet, 2025).

Fewer Swedish singles date online, and most say they prefer to meet offline. In its report Svenskarna och internet 2025, Internetstiftelsen found that 18% of singles dated online in 2025, down from 27% in 2022, and that 55% of singles prefer to meet potential partners offline. The decline was largest among 16–34-year-olds. Among singles, 22% of men and 14% of women dated online in 2025, and the report says the gap is widest among people born in the 1970s or earlier (Internetstiftelsen, 2025). Neither report breaks anything down by app, and neither says why the numbers moved. None of this means the apps are empty. The store charts give one more dated snapshot. On October 4, 2026, Hinge was first and Tinder second in Google Play's Swedish list of popular free dating apps, followed by Match, PURE, Nymph, Bumble, Ourtime and Mötesplatsen; in the App Store's Lifestyle chart, Hinge stood at 8, Tinder at 20 and Bumble at 51 (Google Play, 2026; Apple App Store, 2026). A chart position is not a user count, and the lists move hour by hour. The only user estimate we found comes from Sensor Tower, which publishes no method: about 132,000 weekly active users for Tinder in Sweden in the fourth quarter of 2025, about 103,000 for Hinge and about 13,000 for Bumble (Sensor Tower, 2026).
